What Multiple Timeframe Alignment Actually Tells You
Why a 5-minute signal that agrees with the 1H/4H trend is different from one fighting it.
Every live signal is tagged with what the 1-hour and 4-hour trend looked like at the exact moment it fired — not recalculated later, captured then. That's what the MTF badge on the Performance page is showing you: Aligned, Diverging, or Mixed.
Aligned means both the 1H and 4H trend agreed with the signal's direction — a long signal firing while the bigger picture is also trending up. These setups are trading with the current, not against it.
Diverging means neither higher timeframe agreed — a long signal firing while the 1H and 4H are both tr ending down. These aren't automatically bad, but they're a smaller, faster move happening inside a big ger move going the other way, and they tend to have less room to run before the larger trend reasserts itself.
Mixed means the two higher timeframes disagreed with each other, which happens more than you'd expect — markets consolidate, timeframes decouple temporarily, that's normal too.
None of this changes what the signal is. It's context, not a veto. What it gives you is a faster way t o understand why a trade behaved the way it did after the fact, and over time, a feel for which condit ions this particular setup tends to work best in.
